As Sons of Norway members, we share experiences of our Nordic culture. Our members include native Norwegians, Norwegian-Americans, Swedish-Americans, Danish-Americans and those of other nationalities who enjoy each other's company and have fun together.
The Nordlyset lodge was founded in 1917 and is named for the first Norwegian newspaper published in the United States. Nordlyset means "northern lights" and that publication helped immigrants understand American life. Some of our founders were instrumental in starting Racine County's first county park. Wind Lake's Heg Memorial Park honors Colonel Hans Heg, the highest decorated Norwegian-American killed in the Civil War.
